Centrepoint

We are serious about supporting a charity that works hard to help and support
children and teenagers who would otherwise become just another statistic. We
believe that every child deserves the best chance or a second chance.

Centrepoint is a charity that exists to benefit young people and communities (especially the most
excluded, disadvantaged, and marginalised), and does so by being a creative community of staff,
volunteers, supporters, clients, donors and partners.

Centrepoint is the national charity working to improve the lives of socially excluded, homeless young
people. It provides a range of accommodation based services, including emergency night shelters and
short stay hostels, specialist projects for care leavers, ex-offenders, young single parents, foyers and
supported flats and floating support services.

In the winter of 1969 a young curate, Ken Leech, and the Simon Community became so concerned about
the young people sleeping on the streets in the West End that they decided to do something about it. He
and a group of volunteers from the Simon Community opened the basement of his church, St Anne’s in
Soho, on the 16th December as a temporary night shelter.

Centrepoint helps homeless young people by giving them the space, advice and support they need to
become the spirited, independent adults they have a right to be. But without financial support,
Centrepoint would not be able to continue to provide these vital services.
